The Show

These days, it takes a wedding planner, ice sculptures, a florist, a DJ, twenty pounds of personalized M&Ms, a shaman, a cake designer, a Frank Sinatra impersonator, honeymoon insurance, a skywriter and an Irish step-dancing team just to create an intimate, politically-correct wedding. After all that, are we really Better Of f Wed?

Back for its second run at Donny’s Skybox in Piper’s Alley, sketch comedy show Better Off Wed is a refreshing and offbeat parody of the wedding planning process inspired by Miss Manners Guide to a Surprisingly Dignified Wedding.  Directed by the book’s author, Bina Martin, and written by an all-female group of Second City Training Center alumnae, the show opens Saturday, May 7th – just in time for wedding season.

Who should see Better Off Wed? Anyone looking for a fun way to start the night off right on your bachelor and bachelorette parties.  Anyone who has ever been a bridesmaid (i.e. every woman in America).  Anyone who has ever rolled their eyes at an episode of Bridezillas/Shedding for the Wedding/Bridalplasty/Four Weddings/My Fair Wedding. Come and have a laugh about the do’s and don’ts of your big day.
