The Wedding Party

It is with great excitement that we introduce you to our wedding party:

Brianna Baker-Carvell is thrilled and honored to be a part of the Better of Wed show for a second time! Brianna is a recent Second City Conservatory graduate, is on a team at iO theater, and performs around Chicago with the ladies of Sit Still. It’s spring, and love is in the air…why not add some laughter? Buy your ticket already!

Shawn Bowers is a writer, actor, improviser, producer and director hailing from Overland Park, Kansas. A graduate of the Second City Conservatory and the iO Training Center, Shawn can currently be seen performing around with the iO house team Dream Cannon and around town with his epic sketch comedy group Saddle Dads (www.saddledads.com).   Previous shows include all sorts of sketch and improv things that you probably didn’t see, but that took place at theatres like the De Maat, Donny’s Skybox, the Playground, Gorilla Tango and in different states and festivals.  You can find all sorts of fun stuff including stories, plays, videos and more at www.ShawnBowers.com.

Adam Claus is excited to be reunited with the cast and crew of BOW! He is a graduate of The Second City Writing and Improv programs and currently finishing up Improv training at iO and acting at Green Shirt Studio. He’d like to thank his Mom, Dad, and Laura because they are wonderful.

Jen Malinsky is thrilled to join this talented cast!  Her own wedding took place in a time before electricity and gas fueled automotives.  She is a Chicago native and has been acting/improvising for over 10 years.  During that time, she has perfomed internationally with the improvised one-act play “Chairs”, B.S. (as Annie Lovelock), “Blaire”, “Cougars” (iO), ”Corporation, Inc.”, “DoubleVision”, AUDITIONS TONIGHT, “Off-Book”, “Whirled News Tonight” & pH.  When she’s not appearing in industrials, commercials or voice-overs, she’s busy pleasing her 3 year old boss.  Jen’s training credits include Act One, Annoyance, Audition Studio, ComedySportz, iO, The Second City Conservatory & TVI Actors Studio.

Kelly McGuigan is a Baltimore, Maryland native with a Theatre Performance degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is thrilled to be part of such a talented ensemble of writers and performers for round 2 of Better Off Wed! Kelly has studied improv and sketch at The Second City Training Center and Improv Olympic. She also performs around town with her all-female sketch/improv troupe, The SufferJets, as well as her two-woman group, Sweet Tired Kitten. She’d like to thank her family and friends for all their support, as well as all those shiny happy people getting married for providing such great inspiration!

Nate Sherman feels as if the experience with this cast has finally come full circle. It has been a full year since the last time this show played, and Nate is excited to see how everyone has grown as artists and people. Nate is a founder of the college comedy group “The 8th Floor” at The Ohio State University. He is a current performer in the IO House Team “The Late 90s”, The Second City Outreach show “Rahm Wasn’t Built In a Day”, and “The Davenports” which runs at The Playground Theater. So glad to see you again.

Kerri Morrison (Joining us 6/18, 6/25) is proud to say that she’s never been a bridesmaid, but is thrilled to make an exception with this cast.  She received her BFA from Point Park University, is a recent grad of the Second City Conservatory and performs around Chicago with Cake n Hatred.

Trey Hanks (Joining us 5/30) is from Oklahoma.  He is glad to be Black Swan-ing for Shawn Bowers in this wonderful show.  He’s ENGAGED audiences  all around Chicago for the last three years.  Get it? Marriage pun.  Get it? Good one, Trey-DAWG.  He’d like to thank everyone involved with BOW and his Grandparents who to him were the shining example of being Better Off Wed.
